The Water and Wastewater Department will be working to conduct a watermain valve and fire hydrant installation on Wellington Main Street on Thursday, May 28.
- Work will begin at 9 am, with an expected completion time of 6 pm the same day. During this time, there is expected to be a two-hour shut down of the watermain.
- The construction will take place on Wellington Main Street between the Tim Hortons (132 Wellington Main Street) and the East Town Limit. Traffic control will be in place. The work area may be reduced to one lane for the duration of work. Motorists are asked to avoid the construction area if possible.
- Heavy equipment may limit visibility in the area and noise levels will be elevated for the duration of the repair. Motorists are asked to be cautious of the work crew.
- This work is not expected to impact water quality; however, residents on Wellington Main Street from Belleville Street to the East Town Limit can expect to experience reduced to no water pressure and coloured water is possible when the watermain is returned to service. The water remains safe to drink throughout the duration of construction.
- If coloured water is experienced, customers are encouraged to flush their water lines at the cold water tap nearest to the water meter once maintenance work is complete.
