The County of Prince Edward, the City of Belleville, and the City of Quinte West are inviting prospective candidates and interested residents to attend a joint municipal candidate information session ahead of the 2026 municipal election.
The session will take place on Wednesday, June 17 from 6 to 8 pm in the Fireplace Room at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre, located at 265 Cannifton Rd. in Belleville.
Staff from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing’s Eastern Municipal Services Office will present at the information session. They will provide an overview of the roles and responsibilities of municipal council members, as well as information on the legislative requirements for candidates considering running in the municipal election.
The session is open to anyone interested in running for municipal council, including the office of mayor, and/or school board trustee positions within Prince Edward County, Belleville, and Quinte West.
Clerk’s staff from all three municipalities will also be in attendance to provide information specific to each municipality’s nomination procedures and election processes.
The session is free to attend and no registration is required.
