Fire and Rescue tanker shuttle field test on August 18

August 17, 2026

Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue is scheduled to complete the Fire Underwriter Survey tanker shuttle field evaluation test on Tuesday, August 18 at 5:30pm in the Consecon area.

An effective tanker shuttle service allows the municipality to provide effective fire protection services within non-hydrant serviced areas of the municipality.

  • The practice session will begin at 5:30 pm and continue for approximately two hours.
  • Traffic will be flagged along Stinson Block Road near 1036 Stinson Block Road and at the intersection of County Road 29 and Stinson Block Road. Motorists are asked to avoid the area or approach with caution.
  • Four fire tankers will shuttle water from two hydrants located on County Road 29 near the Consecon fire station to a test site on Stinson Block Road approximately 5 km from the hydrants. Tankers will continuously return to the hydrants to refill via County Road 39 and County Road 29.
  • The tankers will drop the water in portable tanks where a pumper will continuously discharge the water.
  • The tankers will be operating with their emergency lights activated but no sirens.
  • Drivers are reminded to exercise caution while travelling on the tanker shuttle route and safely pull over to the far-right edge of the road, clear of any intersections, and stop when encountering a fire vehicle with its lights activated.
  • Customers in the immediate area may experience intermittent pressure fluctuations and some discolouration of tap water while the practice is taking place. This does not affect the safety or quality of your water.
  • If coloured water has been experienced, customers should run the cold water tap closest to the water meter until tap water runs clear. Customers are advised to wait until the water runs clear at the tap before doing laundry or running the dishwasher. Using discoloured water in your washing machine could result in stained laundry.
  • For more information, contact the County of Prince Edward at 613.476.2148 extension 1023, 613.962.9108 extension 1023 or info@pecounty.on.ca.
