Accessible parking spaces installed in King Street parking lot October 10- October 11

October 9, 2024

October 9, 2024

A portion of the King Street parking lot in Picton will be closed starting at 8 am on Thursday, October 10 through the end of day on Friday, October 11.

The closure will allow the municipality to make line painting adjustments to facilitate the addition of accessible parking spaces. Click here to see a map of the work area. The rest of the parking lot will remain open to vehicles.

County Council recently approved 20 new accessible parking spaces throughout Picton, Bloomfield, and Wellington at off-street parking lots and on-street parking areas.

The changes followed a staff review of accessible parking spaces across municipally owned parking lots and the downtown core areas earlier this year. Part of this parking space review included public consultation with County residents.

County staff’s goal is to improve accessibility and public safety, while ensuring people living with disabilities can access services, businesses, parks and open spaces with dignity.

These parking enhancements also support the pillar of a “community that cares” in the County’s Strategic Plan, whereby the municipality is an active partner working with others to narrow socioeconomic gaps. Click here to learn more.
