County Council recently approved 20 new accessible parking spaces throughout Picton, Bloomfield, and Wellington at off-street parking lots and on-street parking areas.
The changes followed a staff review of accessible parking spaces across municipally owned parking lots and the downtown core areas earlier this year. Part of this parking space review included public consultation with County residents.
The Mary Street parking lot will be one of the public parking lots to include accessible parking spaces. Starting at 8 am on Tuesday, August 27 until 8 am on Wednesday, August 28, a portion of the Mary Street parking lot will be closed so that line painting adjustments can be made to facilitate the addition of accessible parking spaces.

The County’s goal is to improve accessibility and public safety, while ensuring people living with disabilities can access services, businesses, parks and open spaces with dignity.
These parking enhancements also support the pillar of a “community that cares” in the County’s Strategic Plan, whereby the municipality is an active partner working with others to narrow socioeconomic gaps. Click here to learn more.
