The 11th annual Lilac Ride in support of the Rotary Club of Picton is scheduled to take place in Prince Edward County on Sunday, May 24.
A higher than usual number of bicycles are expected on the road beginning at 8:30 am. Motorists are asked to take caution as there will be no road closures.
When passing a cyclist, drivers must maintain a minimum distance of one metre between their vehicle and the cyclist where it is practical to do so.
The Lilac Ride consists of three routes; 25 kilometres, 50 kilometres, and 100 kilometers. All rides begin and finish at the Prince Edward Community Centre (375 Picton Main Street). Checkpoints along the routes will be operated by Rotary Club marshals. Prince Edward County OPP will be stationed at the Town Hill to provide traffic control.
The bike routes include the following roads: Picton Main Street, Bridge Street, Union Street, County Road 7, County Road 8, County Road 10, County Road 13, County Road 16, County Road 17, County Road 24 and a section of Loyalist Parkway.
