The County is looking to attract a diverse range of dedicated community volunteers to serve on the following advisory committees and working groups:
- Accessibility Advisory Committee: suitable for someone with an understanding of the social and environmental impact of accessibility on our community.
- Agricultural Advisory Committee (youth positions only): suitable for someone who has knowledge about agricultural matters and/or has a passion for protecting rural and agricultural lands and enhancing the viability of agriculture in Prince Edward County.
- Built and Cultural Heritage Advisory Committee: suitable for someone with an understanding of conservation of cultural heritage values or interests, as well as cemeteries.
- Environmental Advisory Committee: suitable for someone who has an interest in promoting environmental sustainability, stewardship, and protection within Prince Edward County.
- Traffic Advisory Committee (youth positions only): suitable for someone with knowledge of the County’s road network, active transportation and/or traffic trends.
- Ward Recreation Committees (opportunities available for all wards): suitable for someone who has a passion for bringing their ward together or has party planning experience.
- Heritage Designation Working Group: suitable for someone who has an interest in heritage designation and preserving the cultural heritage characteristics of the County.
- Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC) Communications Working Group: suitable for someone who has an interest in public outreach and engagement channels to support the Environmental Advisory Committee’s initiatives.
Becoming a member of a citizen committee or working group offers residents a unique chance to volunteer their highly valued skills and knowledge to strengthen our shared sense of community.
To be eligible to serve on a committee, applicants must be:
- a Canadian citizen, or permanent resident living in Prince Edward County; or
- a property or business owner in the County of Prince Edward;
- a minimum of 16 years of age or older
- There may be additional eligibility requirements required by legislation for membership, which are outlined in the terms of reference.
