Boil water advisory remains in effect for Consecon/Carrying Place Drinking Water System

July 19, 2023

The boil water advisory issued for the Consecon/Carrying Place Drinking Water System, as a result of a significant watermain break in the Trenton Drinking Water System, remains in effect until further notice.

  • All users connected to the Consecon/Carrying Place Drinking Water System are advised to bring water to a rapid boil for at least one minute prior to using it for domestic purposes (e.g. drinking, making infant formula and juice, brushing teeth, washing raw foods and making ice). Click here for more information on how to boil your water.
  • The Consecon/Carrying Place Drinking Water System receives water from the Trenton Drinking Water System. The boil water advisory has been implemented for a large portion of the Trenton Drinking Water System and Consecon/Carrying Place Drinking Water System as a result of an emergency shutdown to repair a critical watermain break in the Trenton Drinking Water System. Click here to view a map of the impacted area.
  • Operators of the Trenton Drinking Water System have conducted temporary repairs to the system and continue work on a permanent solution. Learn more about this work on the City of Quinte West website.
  • Flushing activities and sampling is underway in both the Trenton and Consecon/Carrying Place drinking water systems.
  • The boil water advisory will remain in place until such time that bacteriological tests prove that water is within accepted quality and safety limits.
  • Once the boil water advisory is lifted by Hastings Prince Edward Public Health, communications will be shared through local media outlets, social media, and the County’s website. At that time, affected users will be recommended to flush household plumbing through the cold water tap until water runs cold to the touch.
  • All customers are asked to avoid any non-essential water use, including watering lawns and gardens until the boil water advisory is lifted. The coin-operated bulk water station in Carrying Place will remain closed until the boil water advisory is lifted. Customers can access bulk water from the Wellington and Picton bulk water hauling stations.
  • The County is committed to providing a consistent supply of safe drinking water to all consumers of the County’s municipal drinking water systems.
