The County of Prince Edward is installing cameras as part of a new traffic light system at the intersection of Picton Main Street and Walton Street.
The new system will replace the old road sensors that are now obsolete. The camera-based sensors will detect traffic flow and operate the traffic lights. The cameras will not record footage, and they will not be used for traffic enforcement.
The contractor will be installing all-new wiring and completing the necessary work to support the system. The new system is expected to be up and running by the end of September.
- Work will take place between 7 am and 7 pm on September 28 and 29.
- Traffic control measures will be in place. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area where possible.
- Heavy equipment will be present and visibility in the area may be reduced.
