The intersection of Consecon Street and the Millennium Trail in Wellington has reopened to vehicle traffic.
The closure was required so that the County’s contractor could install the watermain (an underground water pipe) and forcemain (a pressurized sewer pipe) across Consecon Street.
Trail remains closed
The Millennium Trail between Consecon Street and Wharf Street will remain closed for another week.
Trails users are directed to detour around the closure using Cleminson Street, Wellington Main Street, Consecon Street, 2nd Avenue, West Street, Niles Street, and Wharf Street. Click here to view the detour map.
REMINDER: Do not go onto private property to detour around the trail closure.
Second closure scheduled for October 1
A second full closure of the intersection will take place Thursday, October 1 from 7 am until 7 pm. During this closure, crews will work to make the final water service connections.
The municipality will provide additional updates if there are any changes to the closure schedules. Sign up to receive news and notices directly from the municipality.
No traffic will be able to pass through the intersection during the closure. The closure will remain in effect continuously until the final connections have been made.
Detour signage will be in place instructing drivers to use Belleville Street/County Road 2, Swamp College Road, Baitleys Road, and Consecon Street. Click here to see the map.
Background information
This work is the final connection of the Wellington trunk watermain and sanitary sewer project. The new trunk watermain will help meet the water distribution and storage needs of the existing residents and future development within the Wellington urban serviced area. The new sewer trunks will accommodate the anticipated increase in wastewater flows from new developments.
