Council Highlights: February 8, 2022 – Regular Meeting of Council

Procedural By-law Approval

Council approved a new Procedural By-Law, which governs the way that municipal Council and committee meetings are run. The final by-law was informed by public input, discussion at a special meeting of Committee of the Whole, and further discussion and amendments at this Council meeting. The final by-law will be available to view online once it is duly signed by the Mayor and Clerk.

Committee Appointments

Council appointed members to fill vacancies on various citizen committees including: Graeme Phillips (Cemetery Advisory), Kim Laird (Community & Economic Development Commission), Kelly McGillivray (Traffic Advisory), Denise Gendron and Chris Braney (Heritage Advisory), Joanna Adema (Bloomfield Recreation), Craig Cooper and Linda McBain (North Marysburgh Recreation), Brogan Courtney (Picton Recreation), Michael Farrell, Herni Garand, Greer Koutroulides, Brian Longwell, Michelle Pritchard, and Larissa Stout (Sophiasburgh Recreation).

Proclamations

The Mayor read two proclamations to mark 211 Day on February 11, 2022 and Flashback February Heritage Week from February 19-26, 2022.

Presentations, Deputations and Reports

Received the annual report of the Prince Edward County Library and Archives, as well as a deputation about the procedural by-law. Council received a variety of reports from municipal committees, including budget line approvals for the Community and Economic Development Commission and the Police Services Board.
