County and full-time firefighters renew association agreement

Picton – The County of Prince Edward and the IAFF Local 2745, representing full-time firefighters, have reached a new four-year collective agreement.

Council approved the agreement at its meeting last night. The agreement was previously ratified by the IAFF Local 2745.

“We are pleased to reach this new agreement with IAFF Local 2745. We believe that by working closely together, we are in the best position to achieve desired outcomes for the County,” says Marcia Wallace, Chief Administrative Officer, County of Prince Edward.

The County and IAFF held a bargaining session on November 18. Both parties arrived at a new association agreement that will be in effect January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2024. A total monetary and benefits package of 1.75% was achieved. Highlights include:

  • Total wage increases of 1.575% effective January 1, 2021, 1.575% effective January 1, 2022, 1.575% effective January 1, 2023, and 1.825% effective January 1, 2024.
  • A $150 increase to paramedical services in massage therapy, physiotherapy and chiropractic therapy from $350 per annum to $500 per annum.
  • Increased sick days from two days to three days.
  • Exploration of a compressed work week for some members of the department.
