County Council releases terms of settlement with Picton Terminals

August 8, 2024

County Council has voted to make public the terms of settlement agreed to by the municipality and Picton Terminals.

Mayor Steve Ferguson called a special Council meeting on August 7 to consider this time sensitive and urgent matter.

On June 25, 2024, after closed session, Council passed a motion directing its legal counsel to seek a resolution of the case on the basis of specific terms of settlement that were approved by Council. The municipality’s lawyers then communicated these terms of settlement to the lawyers for Picton Terminals, which the company accepted. Upon acceptance of these terms, a binding legal agreement was in place.

A by-law to formally execute/sign the municipal portion of the agreement will form part of the regular agenda at the September 10 Council meeting.
