Cultural heritage designation proposed for 1521 Danforth Road

January 28, 2022

The County of Prince Edward has issued a notice that it intends to designate lands and premises at 1521 Danforth Road as a property of cultural heritage value and interest under the Ontario Heritage Act.

The Christ Church Parsonage on that property has design value as a representative example of mid-19th century domestic architecture. The Parsonage had unique and unusual features related to its social role within Anglican church life. More information about this property is included in this statement of heritage value.

Council recommended the designation during its Committee of the Whole meeting on January 13, 2022. More information is contained in the staff report to Council. Further information regarding the proposed designation is available by contacting Dale Egan, Planner I, at 613.476.2148 extension 2034 or email degan@pecounty.on.ca.

Any person who objects to the designation must file a notice as well as a statement of reasons with the Clerk’s Office by February 26, 2022. Objections can be sent to Catalina Blumenberg, Clerk, 280 Picton Main Street, Suite 103, Picton, ON, K0K 2T0 or email cblumenberg@pecounty.on.ca.
