“Dine Here” this fall for a taste of The County

November 3, 2021

Picton – This November, get a taste of The County by visiting a favourite local restaurant or discovering a new dish on a fall-forward menu.

“We know that the food and beverage sector has been hard hit by COVID-19. With the province lifting capacity limits for restaurants and life slowly returning to normal, now is great time to show our continued support for all types of local eateries in The County,” Mayor Steve Ferguson says.

Visit The County will roll out a five-week digital campaign with the aim of encouraging residents and visitors alike to “Dine Here” at one of The County’s many establishments. In addition, diners will have the chance to win one of 12 gift cards worth $100 for a local restaurant of their choice when they tag a friend in comments of one of Visit The County’s “Dine Here” social media posts on Instagram. The promotion is supported through the Community and Economic Development Commission.

The County is adjusting its fall dine-local promotion following feedback from industry stakeholders. Countylicious — a dine-in, three-course promotion — usually occurs around this time every year. However, The County has adopted a new approach to best meet the needs of local businesses.

“We want to showcase menus of all types and encourage people to discover many of The County’s outstanding culinary offerings,” says Todd Davis, Director of Community Services, Programs and Initiatives. “At this moment, as restaurants navigate re-opening their indoor spaces, changes to capacity limits, and continued staffing shortages, we want to be as flexible and supportive as possible. We understand local residents and nearby visitors look forward to Countylicious, and we are hopeful it will return in some form in the future.”

Patrons are reminded to bring their proof of vaccination if they intend to dine-in at any County establishment. Visit the Government of Ontario website to download your vaccine certificate. If you do not have a computer, a photo health card, or need help, call the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre at 1.833.943.3900 to request a copy of your vaccine certificate by email or mail.
