The County of Prince Edward is gathering feedback from the community to help inform the 2025 municipal budget.
“County Council committed to supporting resident participation in the budgeting process, a commitment we made in our Strategic Plan. Over the next several years, we are attempting to bring more voices to the conversation about how your tax dollars are spent,” Mayor Steve Ferguson says.
Residents can get involved in the budget process in a number of ways:
- Fill out the online survey. Hard copies are available for pick-up at Shire Hall (332 Picton Main Street) and Prince Edward County Public Library branches. The survey will close at 4 pm on Friday, August 9.
- Check out the Have Your Say budget engagement page. You can get answers to frequently asked questions, find links to the 2024 budget documents, and fill out the online survey.
- Attend an informal pop-up session where you can share your thoughts and fill out a paper copy of the survey:
- Saturday, July 13, 9 am – 12 noon, Bloomfield Public Library Branch (300 Bloomfield Main Street). Drop by during the Soapbox Derby!
- Tuesday, July 16, 5 – 8:30 pm, Wellington Baseball Park (170 Niles Street)
- Friday, July 19, 5-9 pm, Roblin Lake Park (38 Coleman Street)
- Monday, July 22, 5 – 8 pm, Picton Soccer Fields (38 Johnson Street, Picton)
Results of the public consultation will be shared with residents in the fall. Council will consider the proposed budget in December 2024. The public can attend the budget meetings in person at Shire Hall or watch them live on the County’s YouTube channel.
