The County of Prince Edward will begin invasive species management along municipal roadsides beginning on Monday, June 2.
- Work will begin along the roadsides in Picton and the surrounding area.
- Once work has been completed in Picton, crews will begin working on the roadsides in other areas of the County.
- Invasive species removal along the roadsides will be conducted throughout the months of June and July.
- In addition to invasive species removal, the municipality will remove brush along roadsides to improve sightlines at intersections and curves, improve visibility of road signs, and reduce potential hazards.
- For safety, residents are asked to avoid the work areas while treatment is occurring.
- Staff will be conducting surveys which will include smaller trees in the County’s tree inventory system. The surveys will help staff identify smaller trees that have naturally regenerated and that can be preserved in accordance with the County’s Tree Management and Preservation Policy. This will contribute to maintain and monitor tree cover in the County.
