Localized flow testing in Picton Drinking Water System March 30

March 30, 2026

Localized flow testing will be conducted in the Picton Drinking Water System on Monday, March 30 between the hours of 12 pm and 4 pm.

  • Testing will take place on the Millenium Trail behind the No Frills grocery store. County vehicles will be on the Millenium Trail to conduct this work.
  • To conduct flow testing, certified Drinking Water Operators will be operating select fire hydrants throughout the distribution system. Detailed information on what to expect when hydrant flushing is taking place in your area is available on the County website.
  • During the flow testing, customers are asked to avoid excessive water use (Example: running tap water for extended periods, using the washing machine and dish washer simultaneously).
  • Like with other water distribution system maintenance, flow testing can disturb deposits that normally occur in the water pipes of the distribution system. Customers in the immediate area where flow tests are being conducted may experience intermittent pressure fluctuations and some discolouration of tap water while testing is being completed. This does not affect the safety or quality of your water.
  • If coloured water has been experienced, customers should run the cold water tap closest to the water meter until tap water runs clear. Customers are advised to wait until the water runs clear at the tap before doing laundry or running the dishwasher. Using discoloured water in your washing machine could result in stained laundry.
  • For more information, contact the County of Prince Edward at 613.476.2148 extension 1023, 613.962.9108 extension 1023, info@pecounty.on.ca.

Please note: The County of Prince Edward provides this information as a service to the general public. While we do our best to provide accurate information, hydrant maintenance and associated service disruptions are subject to change based on weather, road, traffic, and other conditions beyond our control.
