All dogs in the County of Prince Edward must be licensed by March 31 of each year. The cost for each dog tag is $30 or $20 for dogs that are spayed or neutered. Dog tags help return lost pets to their owners.
Dog tags can be purchased:
- In person — Visit any County library branch, Shire Hall (332 Picton Main Street), or the Prince Edward County Fire Department administrative offices.
- By mail — Complete the dog tag licence application form and send by mail to 332 Picton Main Street, Picton, ON, K0K 2T0 together with your cheque payable to the County of Prince Edward. A dog tag and receipt will be mailed to you.
- Online — Visit the County’s website and complete the dog registration form. Your dog tag will be mailed to you.
Kennel Licence:
A kennel licence is available in some areas of Prince Edward County for households that meet the requirements. For more information, contact Canine Control at 613.476.7666.
Sporting Dog Licence:
A Sporting Dog Licence is available in some areas of Prince Edward County, for households requesting to have more than three dogs. Sporting dog licences are issued through By‐law Enforcement. To book an appointment to obtain a sporting dog licence, or for more information, contact Canine Control at 613.476.7666.
Owners of unlicensed dogs in the County are subject to a $55 fine. More information is available in By-law 2958-2011 – Dog Licensing Regulation and Registration.
