Municipal offices closed May 18 for Victoria Day

The County of Prince Edward municipal offices will be closed on Monday, May 18 for the Victoria Day holiday.

Offices will reopen on Tuesday, May 19 at 8:30 am.

Garbage and recycling collection

  • Regular garbage, green bin, and recycling collection will occur on Monday, May 18 with no interruptions.
  • Environmental 360 Solutions reminds residents to have their garbage, green bin, and properly sorted blue box out to the curb by 7 am to ensure pickup.
  • The municipality’s landfill and transfer stations will be open regular hours on Saturday, May 16.

Recreation Centres

The Wellington and District Community Centre (WDCC) and the Prince Edward Community Centre will be closed on Monday, May 18.

The walking track at the WDCC) will reopen on Tuesday, May 19 at 8 am.

Reminder: As of Tuesday, May 19 both community centres and the walking track at the WDCC will operate Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4 pm.

 

The County Museums

All five museums are set to reopen on Friday, May 15 after the annual reset to bring in new exhibits and programming.

Summer hours are as follows:

  • Ameliasburgh Heritage Village (517 County Road 19, Ameliasburgh)- Wednesday to Sunday, 10 am – 4 pm
  • Mariners Park Museum (2065 County Road 13, South Bay) – Friday to Sunday, 10 am – 4 pm
  • Macaulay Heritage Park (23 & 35 Church Street, Picton) – Wednesday to Sunday 10 am – 4 pm
  • Rose House Museum (3333 County Road 8, Waupoos) – Friday to Sunday, 10 am – 4 pm
  • Wellington Heritage Museum (290 Main Street, Wellington) – Wednesday to Sunday 10 am – 4 pm

Residents and visitors are reminded that re-enactors with the “Gathering of Friends Rendezvous” will be firing muskets and a cannon at the Ameliasburgh Heritage Village from Friday, May 15 to Sunday, May 17.

Members of the public may hear noises associated with guns and cannon fire between 10 am and 4 pm each day during the event. Cannon fire will take place on Saturday, May 16 at 12 pm, 12:20 pm, 12:40 pm and 1 pm. The re-enactors will not be firing live rounds of ammunition during the event.

This event is family-friendly and open to everyone. Entry is by donation. Ackerman’s Acres Farms will also be at Ameliasburgh Heritage Village on Sunday, May 17, from 10 am to 2 pm.

 

County Transit

County Transit will not operate on Monday, May 18.
