Municipality launches new tenancy support programs and rental housing inventory

August 12, 2024

The County of Prince Edward is now offering several new services to support the housing needs of its residents.

Funded by the Province of Ontario’s Homelessness Prevention Program through Prince Edward-Lennox and Addington Social Services, the municipality’s Housing Help Program aims to assist tenants with finding and keeping their rental housing units.

Four services are now available to tenants:

  • Rental Housing Education Series: Launching this fall, a series of free workshops, held in-person and online, to help both tenants and landlords. The workshops will feature presentations from local community organizations and include discussions about rights and responsibilities, maintaining positive relationships, and the availability of free resources.
  • Eviction Prevention and Mediation: The municipality’s new Housing Help Coordinator can support both landlords and tenants to reduce and resolve issues and help residents stay in their homes.
  • Landlord Supports: Free resources and information to support stable tenancies are available from the Housing Help Coordinator.
  • Housing Registry: A new online registry of residential rental units is now available for landlords to list their units in Prince Edward County. In collaboration with C3 Solutions, this service will allow landlords to list for free, residents to search for housing, and the public to access real time and accurate rental housing market data specific to Prince Edward County. Interested landlords are encouraged to list their rental housing on the platform.

Those looking for housing and/or requiring tenancy support can contact Judith Burfoot, Housing Help Coordinator, at housinghelp@pecounty.on.ca or by phone at 613.476.2148 extension 1069.
