Municipality relocating inukshuk beginning December 3

December 1, 2025

The County of Prince Edward will relocate the inukshuk stone sculpture at the Picton Fairgrounds beginning on Wednesday, December 3.

The inukshuk, which was erected in recognition of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, previously stood near the Old Boy’s Memorial Entrance on Picton Main Street and was removed on November 10, 2025. A contractor will reinstall the inukshuk near the entrance to the Prince Edward Community Centre where there is a tribute to the Olympic torch relay event that occurred in Picton on December 15, 2009.

The Prince Edward Community Centre will remain open during the relocation. Daily operations and services will continue with minimal disruptions.

All entrances will remain available. The public is asked to follow the posted signage for any temporary detours or safety instructions.

Work is expected to be completed within one week from the start of the reinstallation.

For more information, contact the County of Prince Edward at 613.476.2148 extension 1023, 613.962.9108 extension 1023, or info@pecounty.on.ca.
