Municipality shares summer parking reminders

May 28, 2024

May 28, 2024

With the recent increase in traffic volume, the municipality is asking motorists to be mindful of the following parking regulations:

Parking Compliance

Parking enforcement staff have seen an increase in several types of parking infractions, which are in place for public and personal safety. The municipality reminds motorists:

  • Do not stop or park facing the wrong way on any municipally owned streets/roads.
  • Do not park in no parking areas such as pedestrian crosswalks, hash marked spaces, in front of driveways, and within 15 metres of an intersection.
  • Pull completely off the road if stopping. Driver-side tires cannot be on the roadway.

Pay station returning to Market Lane

The pay station in Market Lane in Picton is being repaired and will be installed in the coming days. Enforcement of paid parking will begin once the machine is reinstalled. The municipality will issue a notice when the machine has returned to service.

Pre-pay function for Picton parking now available on app

Staff have worked with Passport Canada to establish a pre-pay feature for Picton on-street parking (Zone 3221) and Market Lane parking lot (Zone 3222).

The app now allows users to pay for parking between 6 am and 9 am and the session time will not start until 9 am.

Download the free Passport Pay app through your mobile device’s App Store or visit https://passportca.com/park/

Accessible permits & veteran licence plates

Drivers with accessible permits or veteran licence plates may park in any municipal parking space free of charge. In addition, these drivers are exempt from the two-hour parking limit. Accessible parking permits must be clearly displayed.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding parking within Prince Edward County, please contact Parking Enforcement at 613.476.2148 extension 2045.
