The County of Prince Edward is asking for the public’s feedback on permitting backyard hens on residential properties.
The deadline to fill out the online survey and add comments in the forum is Thursday, October 15. Visit the County’s online consultation page, Have Your Say, for more information. Hard copies of the survey are also available at Shire Hall (332 Picton Main Street) and County public library locations.
Currently, raising backyard hens is not permitted outside of rural zoned properties (RU1, RU2, RU3) in the County. County Council passed a motion earlier this year asking staff to investigate the appropriate requirements for allowing backyard hens on residential properties.
Following the public consultation, Planning Division staff will analyse the feedback and prepare a report that will come before Council on Tuesday, October 27.
If you have questions or want to provide your feedback directly to staff, contact James Griffin, Planner, at 613.476.2148 extension 2024 or email jgriffin@pecounty.on.ca.
