Picton Main Street reconstruction work to resume October 20

October 6, 2025

RW Tomlinson Limited will begin work on Phase 3 of the Picton Main Street reconstruction project beginning Monday, October 20.

This phase of the project spans from Spencer Street to 100 metres north of Folkard Lane. One lane of traffic will always be open during the reconstruction, with signals in place to control traffic.

Residents in the construction will have access to their properties throughout construction. Garbage and recycling collection will not be impacted. Please place your material at the curb by 7 am on your regular collection day.

Work in Phase 3 involves the installation and upgrade of underground infrastructure including watermains, sanitary sewers, and storm sewers. This work supports the recommendations in the 2017 East Picton master servicing plan that looked at options for upgrading water and wastewater infrastructure to accommodate future growth in that area.

In addition, the contractor will reconstruct the existing road with new concrete barrier curbs and gutters, a concrete sidewalk, a new widened asphalt roadway surface, and utility-pole-mounted street lighting.

Work in Phase 3 will be completed in two parts. The first part taking place this fall will include sanitary and storm sewer work on the west side of the road, northerly up to Fawcett Avenue. The second part, which will be completed in 2026, will include the completion of the remainder of the sewers and the full length of all watermain, road, sidewalk, and lighting. No work on this project will occur during the winter months.

Work this fall will take place between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm. Heavy equipment may limit visibility in the area and noise levels will be elevated for the duration of the work. Pedestrians and motorists are asked to approach the site with caution.

Signs will be installed directing drivers on an alternate route around the construction area. The municipality recommends using County Road 6 and County Road 5/Johnson Street to minimize commute disruptions. Click here to view a map.

The municipality will provide updates during Phase 3 of the reconstruction. Click here to sign up for notices from the municipality. Notices will also appear in the local newspapers and on the municipality’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts.

If you have an issue during construction, please contact Jeff Shortt, Project Manager, at 613.476.2148 extension 1007 or email jshortt@pecounty.on.ca.

Please note: The County of Prince Edward provides this information as a service to the general public. While we do our best to provide accurate information, construction projects and associated service disruptions are subject to change based on weather, road, traffic, and other uncontrollable conditions.
