Planned watermain construction and temporary water service interruption on Oak Street (Wellington) December 11

December 6, 2024

December 6, 2024

The Water and Wastewater Department will be working with contractors to make planned modifications to the watermain on Oak Street in Wellington on Wednesday, December 11.

  • The work will take place on Oak Street to the east of Maple Street on December 11, beginning at 9 am, with an expected completion time of 4 pm. Click here to see a map of the work area.
  • Crews will be removing a section of watermain that connects the old Wellington water tower to the distribution system.
  • The work will permanently disconnect the Oak Street tower from the drinking water system.
  • Local traffic will still be permitted onto Oak Street. Traffic control will be in place.
  • Heavy equipment may limit visibility in the area and noise levels will be elevated for the duration of the work.
  • Work is not expected to impact water quality; however, residents on Oak Street will experience a temporary loss of water service, intermittent pressure fluctuations and coloured water while construction is taking place. The water remains safe to drink throughout the duration of construction.
  • If coloured water is experienced, customers are encouraged to flush their water lines at the cold water tap nearest to the water meter once repairs are complete and water service is restored.
