Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue at field fire on Fry Road August 5

August 5, 2025

Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue (PECFR) responded to an agricultural field fire at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Fry Road on Tuesday, August 5.

Personnel from Stations 1, 2, and 4 extinguished a fire that burned approximately 30 acres of property. A portion of Fry Road was closed between County Roads 4 and 5 to support tanker shuttle operations. Fry Road has since been reopened to all traffic.

The fire has been fully extinguished. There were no reported injuries and no damage to structures. The cause has been determined to be accidental.

Deputy Fire Chief Tim Kraemer extends his thanks to the members of Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue and to Anderson Farms for their assistance with today’s response and successful outcome.

Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue urges all members of the public to use caution during outdoor work and recreational activities, especially when operating power tools, heavy equipment, or motor vehicles on fields and trails near grass and crops. Operator awareness and preventative maintenance help reduce the risk of accidental fires.
