Resources are available for County residents who need help with payments

March 18, 2021

The County of Prince Edward has compiled a list of resources to help residents who are having difficulty paying household expenses including water and wastewater bills.

Emergency financial assistance is available through programs administered by Prince Edward – Lennox & Addington Social Services. The Ontario Energy Board provides emergency financial support for low-income earners struggling to pay energy bills. The Ontario Energy Support Program can reduce electricity bills for lower-income households.

The Prince Edward Learning Centre and Community Care for Seniors can offer help to residents applying for these and other programs.

Information about these agencies and programs is available at thecounty.ca/help-with-payments

Temporary relief measures are ending for residents and businesses who were unable to pay tax and water/wastewater bills due to the negative impacts of COVID-19. Since March 2020, The County has suspended collections on past due municipal taxes and water and wastewater bills, including penalties and interest. Collection of municipal taxes and water and wastewater billing, including the reinstatement of penalties and interest, will begin on May 1, 2021.

If your account is in arrears, please contact the municipality. Staff can provide information about resources that can help, and can also make payment arrangements.

For information about tax bills and payments, contact tax@pecounty.on.ca and for information about water/wastewater bills and payments contact waterbilling@pecounty.on.ca. For telephone service, call 613-476-2148.
