The Millennium Trail will be closed from Johnson Street up to the currently active construction site from McFarland Drive to Leo Finnigan Drive. The closure will take place from 7 am on Thursday, November 3 until 5 pm on Monday, November 7. Click here to see a map of the closure.
The closure is necessary to allow a contractor to safely deliver pipe material and aggregates for the watermain bedding as part of the current watermain installation project.
The new watermain is part of the planned upgrade to the municipal water distribution system identified by the Master Servicing Class Environmental Assessment for Picton East. The upgrade currently underway supports improvements for the current users and provides the first phase of the water distribution extension needed to facilitate future development of the area, including a new municipal long-term care home, which is currently in the design stage.
The project will be monitored by County staff to ensure that there will be no adverse impact on the natural environment as a result of the construction.
