Traffic disruptions on Wellington Main Street April 23 for planned watermain construction

April 21, 2026

The Water and Wastewater Department will be working to conduct a watermain valve and fire hydrant installation on Wellington Main Street.

  • Work will take place overnight, beginning at approximately 5 pm on Thursday, April 23, with an expected completion time of 3 am Friday, April 24.
  • The construction will take place on Wellington Main Street between the intersection of Belleville Street and the east town limit. Traffic control will be in place. The work area may be reduced to one lane for the duration of work. Motorists are asked to avoid the construction area if possible.
  • Heavy equipment may limit visibility in the area and noise levels will be elevated for the duration of the repair. Motorists are asked to be cautious of the work crew.
  • This work is not expected to impact water quality; however, residents on Wellington Main Street from Belleville Street to the east town limit can expect to experience reduced to no water pressure and coloured water is possible when the watermain is returned to service. The water remains safe to drink throughout the duration of construction.
  • If coloured water is experienced, customers are encouraged to flush their water lines at the cold water tap nearest to the water meter once maintenance work is complete.
