Updated detour route and lane restrictions for Picton Main Street reconstruction beginning June 26

June 24, 2024

June 24, 2024

Construction will begin on the underground services on Picton Main Street from Spencer Street north approximately 250 metres on Wednesday, June 26.

During this phase of the construction, Picton Main Street will be reduced to one lane along sections of the street. The length of the one-lane reduction will vary with the scope of work undertaken.

Temporary traffic signals will be in operation within the one lane section to control traffic. Access to properties as well as emergency access will be maintained. The lane reductions are expected to be in place for approximately four months.

From June 26 to July 15, the existing Picton Main Street detour route that uses Johnson Street, MacSteven Drive, and McFarland Drive will continue; as well, the lane reduction on Picton Main Street north of Spencer Street will continue, with temporary traffic signals in place.

During this period, Picton Main Street from McFarland Drive to Division Street will be closed to through traffic to allow for the completion of above groundwork including curbs, sidewalks and road paving.

Once paving south of McFarland Drive has been completed, the Picton Main Street detour route on Johnson Street, MacSteven Drive, and McFarland Drive will be discontinued, and two-way traffic will resume on Picton Main Street south of McFarland Drive.
