A walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinic will take place at the Prince Edward Community Centre (PECC, 375 Picton Main Street) on Tuesday, May 17 from noon to 6 pm.
People aged 5 and over who are eligible for their first, second, third, or fourth dose of the vaccine can come to the Picton vaccine clinic. Visit the Government of Ontario website for more details about eligibility.
You can receive a fourth dose (booster) at a recommended interval of five months (140 days) after your third dose if you are:
- 60 years old or older
- A First Nation, Inuit and Métis individual aged 18 and over or a non-Indigenous household member aged 18 and over
You may choose to receive your fourth dose as early as three months (84 days) after your third dose. Please book this dose through the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre at 1.833.943.3900 or visit the walk-in clinic and speak with the doctor on site.
If you have recently tested positive for COVID-19, you should speak to a healthcare provider about the optimal timing for your next dose. If you do not have access to a provider, the healthcare professionals at the Picton vaccine clinic are available to discuss with you.
Eligible individuals can also receive their vaccination at participating local pharmacies, by contacting the pharmacy directly. Please visit covid-19.ontario.ca/vaccine-locations for location and registration information.
Research from around the world has shown the importance of getting three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Three doses are better than two doses at:
- Protecting you from getting COVID
- Stopping you from spreading COVID
- Protecting you from getting so sick from COVID that you have to go to hospital
- Decrease your risk of dying from COVID. To date, 49 people in the Quinte region have died from COVID, and many continue to live with the ongoing effects of COVID infection
Two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine do not work as well as three doses against Omicron, the dominant COVID variant. Protection from two doses starts to decrease around three months.
