Public Meeting: Proposed Ballot Question

November 18 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
A graphic with a ballot box in the bottom right corner, the County logo at the top and a cartoon image of people sitting around a table. Text reads: Residents invited to learn more about proposed ballot question at four upcoming public meetings: Are you in favour of a third-party review of Council size and related ward boundary changes?

The public can learn more and provide input on a proposed ballot question for the 2026 municipal election at the following public meeting:

Date: November 18, 2025
Time: 6 pm
Location: Shire Hall, 332 Picton Main Street

County Council intends to pass a by-law to add the following question to the election ballot:

Are you in favour of a third-party review of Council size and related ward boundary changes?

Answer options: “Yes” or “No” only

For the results of the question to be legally binding on the municipality:

  • At least 50 per cent of the eligible electors in the municipality vote on the question, and
  • More than 50 per cent of the voters are in favour

Should this occur the estimated costs of a third-party review would be between $60,000 and $100,000 depending on the scope of the work. Any changes would be in effect for the 2031 municipal election.

Visit the County website for more information.
