Civic Recognition Program
The Civic Recognition Program provides an opportunity for the Mayor and Members of Council to celebrate and honour individuals, groups, and businesses for their outstanding service, achievements, and contributions to Prince Edward County.
Eligibility
Eligible Individuals
The award is open to residents of Prince Edward of County of all ages, individuals or groups. Nominations must demonstrate that volunteer efforts are ‘over and above’ contributions, typically for significant projects, initiatives or extended periods.
Not Eligible
- Members of Council, Committee members, and County staff related to any municipal work related to their work duties / responsibilities where they receive financial compensation.
- Nominations related to individuals or groups in legal disputes or negotiations with the County will be declined until concerns are resolved.
Council reserves the right to not advance nominations at their discretion.

Amateur Sport Award
For individuals excelling in amateur sports
Environment /Sustainability Award
For contributions to sustainability and environmental conservation efforts
Youth Leadership Award
For youth demonstrating exceptional leadership
Youth Volunteer Award
For youth with outstanding volunteerism
Bravery / Heroism Award
For individuals who have performed acts of bravery or heroism
Community / Service Group Award
For outstanding contributions that have made a significant, positive impact on the community
Mayor’s Special Achievement Award
For individuals and groups whose contributions are exemplary and of distinction, reserved for very select and special purposes
Outstanding Volunteer Award
For individuals who have significantly contributed to the quality of life in the community through extensive volunteer efforts
The Process
Get the Nomination Form
Fill out the online form (available on this page);
Pick up a paper copy at the Customer Service Desk, Shire Hall, 332 Main Street, Picton;
Or request a digital copy by email at info@pecounty.on.ca.
Complete the Form
Fill out all required fields for both nominator and nominee.
Attach any extra information or documents.
Submit the Nomination
Deadline: June 30 at 4:30 pm each year (covers contributions from the previous calendar year through to June of the current year).

Review & Recommendation
The Nominating Committee checks eligibility and may request more details.
Eligible nominations are summarized and recommended to Council.
Approval & Notification
Council approves recipients in a closed session.
Nominators and nominees are contacted with award and ceremony details.
Award Ceremony
Held each fall.
- Presented by the Mayor and Council, with family, friends, and nominators invited.
- Light reception to follow. Media in attendance.
Rules & Guidelines
Forms must be complete. Incomplete nominations will not be considered.
Nominators must include:
Full name, mailing address, phone, email
Up to 1,000-word nomination, including category, contributions, titles, dates, and events
Nominee’s contact information must be included.
Additional information is encouraged and should be attached to the form.
Recipients’ names remain confidential until the ceremony.
Nominees must agree to accept the award and RSVP for the event.
