County responding to oil leak on several roads

May 19, 2026

The County of Prince Edward is asking motorists to drive with caution on several County roads that have been impacted by an oil leak this morning.

  • Operations staff have spread sand on sections of County Road 34, County Road 4, County Road 5, and County Road 6 to absorb the oil.
  • The roads in this area may still be slippery for several hours.
  • The source of the leak was found to be malfunctioning construction equipment from a private firm.
  • Impacts were limited to the road surface and were contained. No impacts to the natural environment are anticipated.
  • For more information, contact the County of Prince Edward at 613.476.2148 extension 1023, 613.962.9108 extension 1023, or info@pecounty.on.ca.
