Partial burn ban in effect July 14

July 14, 2026

Partial burn ban in effect as of July 14, 2026

Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue has implemented a partial burn ban, effective immediately, due to an extreme fire weather index and forecasted extreme heat across the region.

Under the partial burn ban, open-air burning is restricted to a container with a screened top or a small campfire. Consumer fireworks are not permitted during this time.

All burn permit holders and anyone planning to have a fire are urged to review the burning restrictions and follow the Open-Air Burning By-law 77-2021.

Key Information:

  • A burn permit is required for all open-air burning.
  • Burning is limited to a container with a screened top (burn barrel) or a small campfire.
  • Consumer fireworks are prohibited during partial and full burn bans.
  • Propane-fueled appliances, such as barbeques and fire tables, are exempt from the by-law.
  • As the fire risk changes, the burn ban status will be adjusted accordingly.

To check the burn ban status: Call 1.833.376.1011 or visit the County website.

To report illegal burning: Call 613.476.2345 immediately at the time of the complaint. For emergencies, dial 911.

Residents are reminded that violations of the by-law may result in a fine and cost recovery for services rendered by Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue.
