Temporary closure of 55 King Street parking lot rescheduled for September 28

September 16, 2026

The temporary closure of the parking lot at 55 King Street in Picton will now begin on Monday, September 28.

The delay in the closure, originally slated for September 16, will allow the contractor to complete updated locate work.

The project will include new pavement, clear lines to show the parking lot stalls, and drainage improvements. The rehabilitated lot will provide a safer, smoother, and more accessible parking experience. The work will take approximately three to four weeks to complete.

During the closure, residents and visitors are encouraged to use alternative public parking options, including the Market Lane parking lot or the free parking on Mary Street. Please click here to view all parking options in Prince Edward County. The municipality will not enforce paid on-street parking along King Street between Elizabeth Street and Ross Street during the rehabilitation.

The Level 3 DC fast chargers in the parking lot will not be available when crews are on site between 7 am and 5 pm, Monday – Friday. The chargers will reopen after hours on weekdays and on the weekend. The schedule will be updated in the charger descriptions on the Flo app and other charger maps.

Level 2 chargers are also available in Picton (375 Picton Main Street), Bloomfield (257 Bloomfield Main Street), and Wellington (111 Belleville Street). Learn more about municipal electric vehicle chargers.

We appreciate your patience as this work is completed.
