Economic & Business Data
Prince Edward County is enterprising, environmentally-minded and community-focused. It’s a place of agriculture, artistry, heritage and unmatched natural attributes. The municipality collects and shares data, to help monitor the local economy, and equip entrepreneurs with the information needed to evaluate opportunities for expansion, request loans or apply for grants.
Economic Snapshot
The Economic Snapshot offers a view of Prince Edward County’s economy, using data sourced from Lightcast, a data platform provided by the Ontario Ministry for Agriculture, Food & Agribusiness (OMAFA). It includes general data on population, jobs and wages, as well as sector-specific information on the agriculture, arts & culture, construction / skilled trades, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing and professional services sector.
Community Data
Vital Signs® is Canada’s largest community-driven data program, led by community foundations and coordinated by Community Foundations of Canada. It uses local insights to assess community vitality and promote actions to enhance quality of life. The reports are released nationwide during the first week of October to spark community discussion and inspire action.
Business Retention & Expansion Surveys
The Economic Development team conducts Business Retention and Expansion surveys (BR+E) to better understand the opportunities and challenges facing different business sectors in The County. A BR+E involves conducting confidential interviews with businesses to gather insights into their needs, challenges and opportunities for growth, providing critical feedback on the relationship between County services and the business sector.
