The H.J. McFarland Memorial Home is a non-profit long-term care facility located on the outskirts of Picton, Ontario in beautiful Prince Edward County. Our philosophy of care is one that recognizes the individuality of each resident and where all staff, family members and community partners are valued and respected for their contributions to resident care.

Our Human Resources Department is currently accepting applications for the permanent part-time position of Ward Clerk. Reporting to the Director of Care, the Ward Clerk performs administrative nursing duties for the nursing department. Duties include consulting with the Director of Care for scheduling nursing staff, maintaining inventory, ordering and distributing nursing and continence supplies, and coordinating Physician rounds, care conferences and medical outings and liaising with families and relevant community agencies.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
•Completion of Grade 12 Diploma.
•Previous office administration educational courses and/or previous administrative work experience would be considered an asset.
•Previous scheduling experience in a unionized 24/7 environment.
•Demonstrated ability to multi-task and proactively manage competing priorities to achieve results.
•Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
•Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to determine appropriate solutions to resolve Resident and/or Family concerns.
•High standards of ethics, professionalism and confidentiality to handle sensitive information, with a demonstrated ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and good judgment at all times.
•Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office and virtual meeting applications, file management, financial software and other related database applications, with a demonstrated ability to learn new software.
•Proof of a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening Check dated within the last six months.
•Proof of a two-step tuberculin skin test within the last six months.

The current rate of pay for this position is $23.49 to $24.44 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits and 4% vacation pay, as per the Unifor Local 8300 Collective Agreement.
