Winter Road Patrol (Temporary, 32 hours/week) - 2 positions
Our Human Resources Department is currently accepting applications for the temporary position of Winter Road Patrol. Reporting to the Roads Supervisor, the primary duties of the Winter Road Patrol will be to patrol the roads during the winter season, keep records, call in winter control response staff, and provide back-up for winter drivers as needed. These positions will be required for a minimum of four (4) months to a maximum of six (6) months during the winter season.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
• Grade 12 Diploma.
• Proof of valid ‘G’ Driver’s License and a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract. ‘DZ’ Driver’s License would be considered an asset.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, as required.
• Proven communication and customer service skills.
• Knowledge and training under the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• This position requires flexibility to work a variety of shifts including some 12-hour shifts, weekends and night shifts.
The current hourly rate of pay for this position is $31.57 to $33.09 plus 10% in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of vacation pay as per Band 6 of CUPE Local 2275’s Collective Agreement. Compensation will also include a $3.00/hour shift premium, and the option to join OMERS, a defined benefit pension plan.
