Mayor Ferguson presents resident with Civic Recognition Award
Mayor Steve Ferguson presented Arlene Wright with a Civic Recognition Award for her volunteerism and passion for gardening. Her many years of work to beautify Prince Edward County is very much appreciated by visitors and residents alike.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health presentation to Council
Dr. Ethan Toumishey, Medical Officer of Health and CEO gave a presentation to Council regarding strengthening public health in the County. Dr. Toumishey’s presentation included a review of the provincial public health strengthening initiative, its current work, and next steps. Click here to view the presentation.

Emergency Management Planning Update for the April 8 Solar Eclipse
On April 8, 2024, Prince Edward County will be one of the few places in Canada to be on the path of a total solar eclipse. Emergency planning for the event aims to ensure the municipality is equipped to address the impacts of the high volume of tourist traffic, which may be like a summer long weekend. County recruiting public volunteers to serve on the Wellington Town Hall Expression of Interest Working Group.
The County is looking for community volunteers to serve on the Wellington Town Hall Expression of Interest Working Group. The Wellington Town Hall Expression of Interest Working Group will engage with the community to scope an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the Wellington Town Hall. The Working Group will consider the opportunities and constraints for the Wellington Town Hall to determine the best use of the building through the EOI process. Interested candidates are asked to complete the application form available on the County’s website before 11:59 pm on Tuesday, April 2. Councillor Engelsdorfer and Councillor Braney are the two members of Council that will be sitting on this working group.

2024 Tourism Management Plan
Council approved the 2024 Tourism Management Plan and eliminated the admission fee at Wellington Rotary Beach moving forward. Click here to view the 2024 Tourism Management Plan.
County Sidewalk Patio Program – By-law Updates
Council approved a By-Law to regulate temporary outdoor patios on municipal property and private commercial property. Further by-law amendments will be brought forward at the March 26, 2024, Regular Meeting of Council. The proposed by-law updates are designed to streamline the program for both participating businesses and the municipality, while strengthening accessibility and public safety requirements.
The next Regular Meeting of Council will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 7 pm at Shire Hall, 332 Main Street, Picton.
The next Committee of the Whole meeting will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 1 pm at Shire Hall.
