The County of Prince Edward facilities and services will be impacted by the holidays as outlined below:
Administrative offices
- Wednesday, December 24: Administrative offices open, 8:30 am – 12 pm.
- Thursday, December 25 and Friday, December 26: Administrative offices closed. All necessary services will be operating as required.
- Monday, December 29, Tuesday, December 30 and Wednesday, December 31: Administrative offices open, 8:30 am – 5 pm.
- Thursday, January 1: Administrative offices closed. All necessary services will be operating as required.
- Friday, January 2: Administrative offices open, 8:30 am – 5 pm.
The municipality will continue to deliver essential services every day throughout the holiday season. If you have an urgent inquiry when administrative offices are closed or after-hours, please call:
- 967.8777 for road, water or sewer emergencies
- Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue is open 24/7 over the holiday season, including statutory holidays. Dial 911 for emergencies / 613.476.2345 for non-emergencies.
Garbage and recycling collection
- There will be no garbage and recycling collection on Thursday, December 25, Friday, December 26 or Thursday, January 1. Regular collection will return on Friday, January 2.
- There will be no garbage, green bin, and recycling collection on Monday, December 29 due to inclement weather conditions.
- Garbage and recycling collection will follow a temporary schedule over the holidays. Please find your regular collection date on the left and the corresponding temporary collection date on the right.

- Garbage bags must be tightly sealed and weigh no more than 40lbs when filled. All bags must have a visible tag. To review the Waste Management By-law, please click here.
- Environmental 360 Solutions reminds residents to have their garbage, green bin, and properly sorted blue boxes out to the curb by 7 am to ensure pickup. If your collection is missed on collection day, please call 1.866.358.3560.
Landfill and transfer stations
- The landfill and transfer stations’ operating hours will run as scheduled Saturday, December 20 and Saturday, December 27. The Wellington, Sophiasburgh, and Picton waste sites will be closed Wednesday, December 24 and open on Wednesday, December 31.

Recreation Facilities
The Prince Edward Community Centre (PECC / 375 Picton Main Street) and the Wellington and District Community Centre (WDCC / 111 Belleville Street) will remain open over the holidays. Changes to operating hours are as follows:
- Wednesday, December 24:
- PECC: Open 7 am to 12 pm
- WDCC: Open 7 am to 12 pm
- Thursday, December 25: Closed
- Friday, December 26:
- PECC: Open 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm
- WDCC: Open 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm
- Thursday, January 1:
- PECC: Open 12:30 pm to 3:30pm
- WDCC: Open 12:30pm to 3:30pm
The walking track at the WDCC is available 8 am – 8 pm during regular operating hours and will follow the above schedule on December 24, 25, 26 and January 1.
Community ice opportunities, including public skating, will be available over the holidays. Click here to view the schedule.
Children 12 and under should be accompanied by an adult. Helmets are not mandatory but are recommended.
Please note: public skating will not be available at the WDCC on Friday, January 2, Saturday, January 3 and Sunday, January 4 due to previously scheduled events.
County Transit
County Transit will not operate on Thursday, December 25, Friday, December 26 or Thursday, January 1.
County Transit’s scheduled route service will end in Belleville at 5:55 pm on Wednesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 31.
