The County of Prince Edward wants to remind residents of the following requirements when installing a private in-ground or above-ground pool:
- All in-ground or above-ground pools require a pool enclosure permit for the fence around it.
- The location of the pool must comply with the zoning by-law and:
- Be located on the interior side or rear yard of the lot
- Be located more than or equal to 1.5 metres from the side or rear property lines
- Have no water circulation or treatment equipment such as pumps or filters closer than 3 metres to any side or rear property line
- The pool fence enclosure shall be:
- 1.5 metres in height made of sturdy material
- Have a self-closing gate capable of being locked
- Residents can apply for a pool enclosure permit online using Cloud Permit. All applications are to be accompanied by a site plan showing:
- Pool location with measurements to property lines
- Fence location and type
- Pool pump and equipment location with measurements to property lines
- Self-latching gates labelled
- The cost for a pool enclosure permit is $150
