Hazardous waste mobile event in Wellington May 9

All residents are invited to dispose of their household hazardous waste free of charge at a mobile event in Wellington on Saturday, May 9.

The mobile event, hosted by GFL Environmental Services, will be held at the Wellington and District Community Centre (111 Belleville Street) from 9 am – 2 pm.

Additional events will be held on the following dates:

    • Saturday, June 13
    • Saturday, July 18
    • Saturday, September 12
  • Household hazardous waste can be found in almost every room of your home. These products, if thrown in the garbage or poured down the drain, can have negative effects on the environment including an impact on groundwater and surface water such as creeks, rivers, and lakes.

  • Electronic waste will no longer be accepted at mobile collection events and can be brought to the following waste sites during regular hours of operation.
    • Sophiasburgh (35 County Road 14)
    • South Marysburgh (1132 Old Milford Road)
    • *NEW – Wellington (275 Consecon Street)
  •  Hazardous waste is not accepted at waste sites. For a list of accepted electronic waste, please click here.
  • *NEW- automotive waste is now accepted at mobile collection events. This includes motor oil, filters and coolants. Outside of collection events, motor oil must be dropped off at the hazardous waste depot at 75 Wallbridge Crescent in Belleville. Click here to view the operating hours.
  • Please note, batteries brought to mobile collection events as well as the hazardous waste depot must have terminals taped. Improperly stored or discarded batteries can cause fire. To keep everyone safe, cover the terminals with non-conductive tape such as clear packing tape, duct tape or electrical tape. Do not cover the brand name or chemistry on the label.
  • Scrap metal will not be accepted at mobile collection events. Scrap metal is accepted at all waste sites within Prince Edward County during regular hours of operation.
