Municipal in-kind support bolsters community organizations

November 4, 2026

Picton – Three additional community organizations are bringing arts experiences to residents of Prince Edward County thanks to in-kind support from the County of Prince Edward.

The 2026 secondary intake of the in-kind stream of the Municipal Community Grants program opened earlier this Fall. With these additional successful applications, the municipality has provided a total of $17,031 of in-kind support to 10 organizations in 2026. A list of all 2026 recipients is available on the Prince Edward County’s Municipal Community Grants webpage.

“Time and time again, we have seen how use of the municipality’s resources and services go a long way to helping community groups realize their goals and vision,” Mayor Steve Ferguson says. “This relatively small investment results in a richer, more vibrant community with events and activities that County residents can enjoy throughout the year.”

The recipients during the secondary intake period include:

  • Alchemy Artists Residency
$678.00 for community hall rental towards Open Studio for Winterlude
  • Shatterbox Theatre
$1,991.61 for community hall rental for rehearsal space
  • Theatre at the Roundabout
$1,779.75 for community hall rental for rehearsal space

In-kind funding refers to services or resources offered by the municipality (use of municipal venues, services, equipment, labour, etc) as valued by the Fees and Charges By-Law that can help support the work of the applicant. The in-kind support offered by the municipality reduces expenses of the work or initiative proposed.

The Municipal Community Grants Program is made possible through funding from the County of Prince Edward and is administered by The County Foundation (TCF). TCF works with an adjudication panel to determine which applicants receive the grants.

“We are pleased to partner with the County on administering the Municipal Community Grants program. The in-kind grant stream offers a unique way to support local organizations by reducing the costs associated with their activities and initiatives, helping them direct more of their resources toward the work that makes a positive impact in our community,” says Dominique Jones, Executive Director of The County Foundation.

There are two intake periods for the in-kind funding stream. The primary intake takes place in the Spring with the full amount of funding available for the year. The secondary intake occurs in the Fall and allocates remaining in-kind funds to projects scheduled later in the cycle, which may have shorter planning timelines.  Click here to learn more about the results of the primary intake.
