Owen Jones Memorial Clean-up returns April 22

April 12, 2023

April 12, 2022

The second annual Owen Jones Memorial Clean-up is scheduled for Earth Day, Saturday, April 22.

“Prince Edward County has a long history of strong community engagement in maintaining trash-free communities,” Mayor Steve Ferguson says. “The County is happy to once again be hosting, along with our community leaders, the Owen Jones Memorial Clean-up. We are excited that through this local event, which honours a tireless volunteer who worked nearly every day to beautify our community, we are able to support larger regional efforts being undertaken as part of the Quinte Trash Bash.”

The County is partnering with Evan Nash and a multitude of volunteers to host the clean-up. This year, the event will be held in support of the Quinte Trash Bash, which is a series of clean-ups taking place in neighbouring municipalities across the Quinte region.

Residents who are interested in participating alone or in a group in Prince Edward County can sign up using the following form: https://forms.gle/ZhNXgbKpbeq7iPF57. More information is available at the following link https://www.facebook.com/groups/293875649003122.

Waste collected on the day of the clean-up can be dropped off at the following locations free of charge:

  • Picton Home Hardware (13544 Loyalist Parkway)
  • Midtown Brewery parking lot (266 Wellington Main Street)
  • 15 Coleman Street (Ameliasburgh), next to the works garage.
  • 2179 County Road 17, Milford

The community clean-up is one of several events being held as part of the Earth Day celebrations this year. Staff and community volunteers have prepared an expanded offering of exciting events and activities throughout the days leading up to and surrounding Earth Day. Details are posted on the County’s events calendar and the Sustainability Hub.
