Teeny Tiny Summit coming to Prince Edward County May 1

April 1, 2025

The Teeny Tiny Summit series — a conference for community leaders and volunteers in small, rural Ontario communities — is coming to Prince Edward County on Thursday, May 1.

Teeny Tiny Summits offer community and economic development ideas that work for small places, including practical examples and tools that can be adapted to small communities. The conference allows participants to learn from other active community leaders and network with like-minded individuals who share a passion for “teeny tiny” places.

Throughout the day, speakers and workshops will explore the theme of “Engage and Energize: Empowering Teeny Tiny Places.”

Peter Kenyon, a renowned community enthusiast and social capitalist from the Bank of IDEAS, Australia, will attend as the keynote speaker. His talk will focus on the idea of “Growing a Sense of Community as Your Community Grows.” He will explore how to engage, energize, and empower through seven locally driven actions, providing community builders with the necessary principles, frameworks, and tools to drive change.

Other topics will include affordable rural housing, food security, breathing life into rural downtowns, attracting visitors and leadership in rural communities.

Registration is now open for the Teeny Tiny Summit, which will take place at the Crystal Palace in Picton (375 Picton Main Street) from 9:30 am – 4 pm. Register online and reserve your spot for the various breakout panels. The cost of attending is $40, which includes lunch. Financial assistance is available if required.

Teeny Tiny Summits started in 2016 as a forum to share practical examples, lessons learned and community economic development tactics. Teeny Tiny Summits have been held in every region of the province and attracted more than 3,000 attendees both in person and virtually. Teeny Tiny Summits are a partnership between the Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA), which provides funding for the keynote speaker, the Ministry of Rural Affairs, and the County of Prince Edward.
