As part of Earth Day celebrations, the municipality is hosting a tree giveaway at three locations on Saturday, May 2.
- Trees will be available on Saturday, May 2 from 9 am to 12 pm at the following locations:
- Prince Edward Community Centre – Crystal Palace parking lot (375 Picton Main Street)
- Wellington and District Community Centre (111 Belleville Street)
- Ameliasburgh Town Hall (13 Coleman Street)
- Residents can collect up to 10 free saplings for planting on their property. Trees will be available on a first come first serve basis. Please note: this program is only available for residents of Prince Edward County. Please bring proof of residency.
- Residents are advised to bring a pail or bag to transport seedlings and keep the roots cool, dark, and moist. Trees should be planted as soon as possible.
- Click here to view the 2026 Community Trees and Shrubs.
- The giveaway is being offered in part to help offset the impact of the Emerald Ash borer (EAB). The invasive species is in the process of decimating the local population of Ash trees in Prince Edward County and across much of Ontario.
- Visit the Sustainability Hub on the County website for more information about this and other community events. If you would like more information, contact Albert Paschkowiak, Environmental Services and Sustainability Supervisor, at apaschkowiak@pecounty.on.ca or call 613.476.2148 extension 4004.
