2024 Parkland Projects – Ameliasburgh Ward Public Meetings

July 22 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Public Meetings Scheduled for Ameliasburgh Ward!

What are Parkland Projects/Funds?
Recently, the province requested that municipalities use funds sitting in Parkland Reserves. This fund consists of payments made to a municipality by developers on a cash-in-lieu basis to fulfill requirements for dedicating land for public parks or open spaces. In some cases, developers may find it difficult to dedicate land due to site constraints, land availability, or project requirements. In these cases, developers may request to contribute cash to the municipality as an alternative.

By using these funds strategically, municipalities can enhance recreational opportunities, improve quality of life for residents or promote environmental conservation.

How much money is available and why is it directed at specific parks?
Parkland reserves are tied to the geography of the project. In this instance, development projects within Consecon, Carrying Place and Ameliasburgh contributed to the Parkland Reserve fund. Funds have been allocated as follows:
-Roblin Lake Park $90,000
-Westfall Park $80,000
-Consecon Park $40,000

How can the funds be used?
Parkland funds are used to add new amenities to make parklands welcoming, inclusive and accessible to all. It is important to note that the improvements are not for general upgrades and renovations, but are focused on adding new amenities to parks and
greenspaces to increase the value to the greater community.

When are the public meetings scheduled?
-Monday July 15, 6:00p-8:00p at Roblin Lake Park
-Monday July 22, 6:00p-8:00p at Westfall Park
-Monday July 29, 6:00p-8:00p at Consecon Park

What if I’m unable to attend a public meeting?
The public is encouraged to contribute ideas and suggestions via the County’s online public engagement site at https://haveyoursay.thecounty.ca/ or by attending one of the scheduled public meetings.
