PECelebrates- REVEL: Celebrating Diversity

Join us for Revel: Celebrating Diversity on June 22 from 12 – 4pm at Macaulay Heritage Park!

Drop in for an open house of “A Path Forward,” a permanent and evolving exhibit co-curated by the Tsi Tyónnheht Onkwawén, the Downie Wenjack Fund, and The County Museums. This exhibit explores Truth & Reconciliation efforts in Prince Edward County through history, heritage, and Indigenous works of art and stories.

Artist Talk | 1 pm
Janice Brant will speak about her piece, “Konwatsi’tsya’yon:ni: Molly of the Mohawks”

Picton and the surrounding area is the traditional territory of the Michi Saagiig (Mississauga) people. They moved to Alderville First Nation in Alnwick Township (south shore of Rice Lake) in 1837. Brian Beaver will talk about the history of the Mississauga people and his book Alderville First Nation…A History.

Brian graduated from Fleming College in Peterborough. He retired from the federal Public Service in Ottawa after 35 years of service (Canadian Human Rights Commission). Brian’s articles have appeared in the Globe and Mail, Ottawa Citizen and Buffalo News. Brian will be signing books which will be available for purchase for $20 (cash or e-transfer). Visit Macaulay House | 12 pm – 4 pm
Head over to Macaulay House for a self-guided tour and enjoy some freshly baked goods made on the hearth fire with ground corn!
